What this blog is about

I'm using this blog to communicate with family, friends, and colleagues while in Italy July and August of 2010, and now again in March 2011. I am visiting field sites to reserch for my dissertation around local food systems and public markets. The point is to not only study in a place where it "works," but to understand some of the constraints to producing, distributing, and consuming local foods.
