Today is the first day I have stayed at home, did some reading, went on a steep walk up the road to Villa Beatrice. Antonia and I walked there yesterday and there were loads of people walking on the road, also lots of families who drove up and were walking and picnicking. On the weekends the roads are full of bikes--mostly men, and all in true bike garb--all lycra with sponsorship logos. Bikes rule the road here, and cars make their way around.
So, today is the first day of spring and still pretty nippy, but by now (3pm) it's pretty comfortable. On my walk this morning at 11 I was still in a tshirt, smartwool, a scarf, and a windbreaker for part of the walk. Now I will do some writing for my paper (I did a good interview with Antionia and Michele last evening on local foods that they buy, trade, receive, grow, etc.
This afternoon I will make a crostata (torta) for Antonia and Michele to take to a local community party for his homecoming celebration. I will to to dinner with Corrado and his friends I met briefly last visit--Carmen and Giuliano. They have a business that distributes Italian food for both Italian markets and for export, and also consult with producers who want to export their products. \
It's all food, and it's all interesting.
